Hit a wall so to speak. *flashing problem*
Re: Hit a wall so to speak. *flashing problem*
try starting the computer
let it get all the way up and running.
dont have any thing hook up no sata and no usb from the 360 dvd drive.
then after the computer is started all the way.
power the dvd drive
after the drive has power for a few secs5 or 10.
then plug in the usb.
have the sata already plugged in to the 360 dvd drive
let it get all the way up and running.

Take your time. For the record, i'm still getting no activity when i press eject. On the x360usb there are blue lights next to "SATA" and "USB" and a red light next to "PWR", and a very faint light flashing from time to time next to "ACTIVITY"sadalius wrote:I've seen this before. I'm trying to remember what I did for it to show up in my computer. I'll post back in a few minutes.
Re: Hit a wall so to speak. *flashing problem*
The light pattern that your seeing is normal, or it seems to be normal. Not sure why the eject isn't working though. That should work whether its connected to the PC or not, or at least I think.sadalius wrote: OK, I think this is what I did. Go into the device manager and find the hitachi drive. Go into the propeties of the drive and click the Volumes tab. Then click the Populate button. When it finishes, click ok and then check my computer for the drive.
Also, if your using Windows Vista, make sure to run any application as administrator too.

Done like sadalius said, just waited till Windows was fully booted before switching on the power and plugging in the USB SATA cable.
But.........just tried flashing it there with firmware toolbox and nada, still the dsame old problem. I think its about to flash but then a message comes up saying, windows cannot connect to drive, make sure drive is visible in Windows. It is.
Re: Hit a wall so to speak. *flashing problem*
Hold your horses.
Just tried flashing it using the iextreme 1.4 method and it all went perfectly.
Gonna wrap my 360 back up and see how it goes. Will report back ASAP. Please please please.

Yep, moved the folder to the c:drive, ran the "FLASHIX.bat", selcted the drive, chose 12x speed(that good?), selected a folder and away it went.CoFree wrote:so you just flashed it with the bat file that comes with the firmware.

Re: Hit a wall so to speak. *flashing problem*
12x should be fine. You have to remember though that backups are harder for the DVD drive to read than what originals are. Hitachi's are notorious for being picky readers too. I think Jman can atest to that fact. Verbtaims are your best bet for hitachi's, I think Toyo Yuden works ok too, but don't quote me on it.
Did the populate trick work for you to get it to show in windows or what?

No, wasn't necessary. Just had to power on the drive after windows had fully booted then connected the SATA cable. Showed up after that.sadalius wrote: Did the populate trick work for you to get it to show in windows or what?
Whats a good speed to burn the games at? Slower the better?
Re: Hit a wall so to speak. *flashing problem*
Cool. Some people will tell you the slower the better. For a picky drive, this is very true. I burn all mine at 2.4x.

yea for hits if they are picky, then 2.4 for sure, seems most verbs only support 2.4 anyway.
only came across some that supported higher write speeds, on those i burned at 4x.
glad u got it flashed monk.
