You generally don't need the VIA card for anything other than the BenQ/Phillips drive. There are even instances when the VIA card will cause more problems than it solves.

VIA is all I use. I've only had a couple of minor problems, but thats it. Other people has lots of problems, but some has none. It's almost a crap shoot, and it really depends on your system. I hate to say it, but I'm a troubleshooter, both professionally and by nature, but thats what it takes to be able to figure out what works for you and what don't. Just some good old fashioned troubleshooting.

well that is not 100% there man.
The via is almost a must for all samsung dvd drive.
The v28 was almost unflashable with out one.
now i think jungle will work for some without a via

troubleshooting is actually one of the skills i think i have!
i have followed guide after guide on this, i have removed the drivers, deleted the .sys file, checked its all as it should be
but JF is still hanging
if i dont power cycle the drive, i can proceed to get the 3 key files with the probe, but they are identified as bad
i am that close i can feel it, there must be a bios option, or a way of making JF not hang when i power cycle the drive!

even if i power cycle the drive before windows loads, the PC still hangs.. so it cant be a windows problem can it?

OK jungleflasher should work with that. That's odd. I've never done a liteon, so i would wait for one of the staff to help.
