yep thats right
don wrote:Im really confused here, people are saying that installing a custom fan and getting banned on XBL is just a rumour and some are saying its a fact.
well i know of 100s if not 1000s that have a fan mod and are not banned.(and yes me and all of mine are in that group)
i do not know of even 1 first hand that has got banned for a fan mod. That is not saying that it has not or will not happen, but if it was happing there would be a very loud out cry.there are many fan mods out there.so you just have to pick what you belive and what side you are going to get on.
don wrote:What do you advice me to do (im not very good at soldering), which fan should I get?
that is up to you.take what you have read and heard and decide for your self.

CoFree, you said you know "1000" that have had fan mods and have not been banned from XBL. Have ALL these people got the fans that use power from the 360 DVD or is it just the stock fan mod?

all get it from the dvd drive.
when you do a stock fan 12v mod that is where you get the 12v from the dvd drive power.

So ALL the custom fans take power from the 360 dvd drive?

ONLY the stock fan mod DOESNT use power from the 360 dvd drive?

How much do BenQ drives go for ($/£)?

I've installed my custom 12v fan, but my xbox 360's airflow from fan is still giving off hot air when playing a game, so i was wondering whether i've installed in correctly or not. :?: :?: :?:

if both fans are spinning and it is moving air to the out side of the console then it should be good.
if it is running it should be louder than it was.

Should the fan not put cold air on the motherboard?

Hot air should be blowing out of the back, that is what an exhaust fan does. It sucks hot air from the heatsink fins out the back of a console or CPU case. If you have installed a 12v fan mod of some kind, there isn't much you can do. If your 360 is gonna die, it's gonna die. Just use quality dvd media, keep the 360 well ventilated, and hope for the best. If it does die at some point you can attempt an x-clamp fix or use the heatgun method if the error codes indicate either is an appropriate fix.

Don't the xbox 360 fans (Stock or custom fans) not put cold air on the 360 green motherboard and its components/parts?

Does the FALCON xbox 360 have the RROD too, or is it very rare?
