I'm about to flash my BenQ drive back to original FW. What is the best way to do this? Is JungleFlasher an option?--it seems easy to do as it works in Windows. I tried running JungleFlasher, but it would not recognize the BenQ drive. I'm using the VIA SATA card (the main recommended one)...and when I open JF it hangs for a bit, then after a couple minutes opens and shows 2 CD ROM devices (my main computer one and the BenQ), but when I click on the MTK tab, it doesn't show any device installed.

Should I flash this with iPrep instead using DOS? I can't seem to use my DOS boot CD since my C partition is greater than 32GB, so I may need to get a flash drive to do it that way.

In short, what is the best way to flash back to my OFW?

Have you flashed with one or the other before?

Both are quite simple to use, but the trouble will probably come when trying to get your computer set up so the JF runs well or iPrep boots and recognizes your devices.

Both are quite easy, I prefer jungle, I started with it, but iPrep is just as easy, if not easier.

Thanks for the answer. Yes, I have flashed both my 360s several times (both BenQ drives). I've always used iPrep...but have had trouble getting the drive to recognize properly...or my results are usually a little different than the tutorial videos...different things pop up on my screen, etc. I've always used NTFSforDOS (a bootable CD that runs DOS) and then I run iPrep from the C drive and have done it that way. Now that my C drive is larger than 32GB, the NTFSforDOS CD won't work. I'd rather do this with JungleFlasher, but I wasn't sure if JF does this (can flash my OFW to the drive)...and last night though I tried for a couple hours, I I couldn't get JF to properly recognize my drive.

i dont spose you have not had the tray half open when trying to get the drive to detect??

Yes, did the tray half open method. Followed the video tutorial to the T. I have the CK3 Lite and even use an external PSU for the 360 drive, like CoFree does.

OK, just got a USB flash drive...I'll do it this way. I have previously checked the OFW to make sure it was good (when I originally dumped it)...but just to double check, I wanted to do it in JF...but didn't know how exactly. On the first tab (Firmware Tool 32), I clicked on "Open Source Firmware", it then gave me the message "Loaded to source buffer...do you want to auto load iXtreme?"...If I choose yes is says "Can't open........1.61", if I choose no, it just shows my DVD key, a long string of characters and numbers...which I believe means it's good? So, I'll go on to use iPrep and do the flash of the OFW as per the instructions in the link you sent.

I know...already thought this through. This 360 hadn't been played for about 2 weeks before the other one I have was banned. I thought it would be worth it to at least try to go back to OFW before plugging into the internet as even with a 1% chance this is not yet banned would make it worth it.

If this console happens to not be banned, should I keep the HD that was on the banned machine away from it? Is there anything on the HD from the banned console that could mess this one up? My son has all his saved games on his HD and he likes switching them around to play in the living room, etc.

when you chose yes
the program is looking in the firmware folder in the jungle flasher folder for the hacked firmware
they did that so people that flash many can just copy all the firmware in the firmware folder and it will auto load the right firmware each time.
all you are doing is checking you key so that dont matter
as long as your key is a lot of different letters and/or numbers
you should be good to go.

the biggest thing is to make sure you rename it right

the HD that is on the banned console will not get the unbanned console banned.
but
you will not be able to switch the one HD back and forth
it will corrupt the saves and profiles on every time you hook it up to the banned console.

man at this point
what we are doing (those of us that can)
are keeping one modded console (not banned) for playing backups
and getting a orig stock new console for any live game play with a orig game.
doing it this way you CAN move a HD back and forth from a
unbanned modded console to a stock unmodded console

I would not put that modded unbanned console back on live
i think there is NO chance it will not get banned.

we are not able to flash new console yet
so a unbanned modded console is worth 3 times what a new console is
but
the sec its banned its not

i would wait on the new v1.7 lt firmware that is being tested and see what that brings.

Thanks for taking the time to share those points, CoFree. I do appreciate it. I will take your counsel and not flash the unbanned 360 back to OFW. I was having trouble doing it anyways; I boot off a flash drive into iPrep. I turn on the power to the drive (using the CK3) and I immediately get this error message and then the computer freezes:

An internal stack overflow has caused this session to be halted. Change the STACKS setting in your config.sys and then try again.

I tried about 5 times, same result. I also tried turning the computer on with the 360 drive already powered...I didn't get this error message, but a few steps later, when it's supposed to read the 4 banks, it just hangs there. I tried this a few times also. Finally I turned the computer on with the 360 drive already powered on, got to the part where it's supposed to read the banks, it hangs, then I power cycle the 360 drive and when it comes back on, it starts reading the 4 banks...but immediately after successfully reading the 4 banks, it gives me the above-mentioned error message again and the computer freezes.

This is similar to the same problem I have had in the past with flashing my drives. I think it must have something to do with the VIA SATA controller (the VT6421a) not communicating properly with the system. I know the card works, because I have used it in my computer as a regular extra SATA controller...I've also used it as an IDE controller since my new mobo doesn't have any onboard IDE controllers. I've had a struggle of a time in the past getting iPrep to recognize the 360 drive the same way your tuturial videos do. And just yesterday with JF, it wouldn't recognize the drive either.

I've been meaning to ask; why is an unbanned modded console worth 3 times what a new console is worth? If the console would be banned the minute it is hooked up the internet, is it really different or better than a banned modded console?

Its not really, currently a modded xbox would be valued less than a brand new/stock console. I think cofree was trying to get the rarity of having an unbanned modded console across.
