Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
Hi guys
want your input on this issue:
i have a liteon drive that i flashed(with sphere and ck3pro) a few months ago with 1.6 and all was good.
now ofcourse after that wave 4 and activate.iso crap i had to use that dvd on new games.
i never played or even plan on playing live ,my console is not connected to internet.
i noticed that this firmware came out:
ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
how do i go on updaing my drive to this firmware? is this frimware "safe"
i understood that with this firmware that activate.iso is no longer neeeded.
need advice on whats the easiest way to update my drive.
thanks for any advice or input

If you use jungleflasher it is very easy. If you did not keep your dummy.bin you can redump your lite-on key with the probe. Once you do, click NO to autoload the 1.6 iXtreme fw and drag and drop the 1.6 non stealth to the bottom part of the first tab in JungleFlasher. Click spoof to target and flash as normal.

Re: Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
thanks for the very very fast reply
few pieces of information and question:
i am running windows 7 64bit(although i can get xp if i need to)
i have the via raid controller(so im good on that part)
i saved all my files when i did the first flashing so i have these:
dummy.bin
idenify.bin
inquiry.bin
key.bin
lite_CFW.bin
do you mean JungleFlasher.0.1.67.Beta?
last time i tried jungleflasher from witnin xp i got the freeze thing(thanks to people here i managed to finish the flashing i think using iprep)
does it run on windows 7 or should i just do the spoofing and then flash and erase using iprep?
on the ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth isee the following files(that are relvant to my liteon drive):
ix16-liteon838_nostealth.bin
ix16-liteon-repack_nostealth.bin
template_ix16-liteon83850V2_nostealth.bin
which of those do i use?
do i use my dummy.bin on the "open source firmware"
and then the ix16-liteon-repack_nostealth.bin on the "open target" then click "manual spoof" and "save"?
i bet i can then just copy the new firmware to my old iprep usb and just issue and erase and write commands right?
thanks again

Re: Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
First, you need to find which Lite-On model you have. I'm assuming it's a 7xxx series. Look on the big sticker atop your Lite-On drive. Near the bottom of the sticker you will see like 74850C or something. This is the corresponding model #.
If it is a 7xxxx drive, then you will be using ix16-liteon-repack_nostealth.bin.
You can use iPrep. You just have to use the 1.6 non-stealth as the CFW to be used when flashing the lite-on. It's the same procedure as when you first modded the lite-on except you're using a different CFW

click "maunal spoof"
then pick my key.bin and inquiry.bin
press ok
then click save to file( a new Lite_CFW.bin will be created)
and thats what i use when i do the erase and write(more prcisly the write)?

Re: Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
jungleflasher doesnt work with 64bit windows,so iprep is the way to go
you can build your cfw file in jungleflasher, then name it litcfw.bin
start iprep and load it
then flash away

next time dont hi-jack
there is no safe for live firmware right now
anyone that says other wise is full of crap
there is testing going on as i type.
but
there is nothing even close to live safe right now.

Re: Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
so in other words just to do a small recap:)
i NEVER have or NEVER plan on playing live(not even connected to anything)
to make sure any wave 4,5,6,7..... runs for sure
its better for me to put the 1.6 non_stealth firmware right?
also regrading updating my firmware from current to 1.6 non_stealth or anything else actually.
i got all my files from previous flashing(dummy,key....)i will install a Virtual machine with windows xp
install latest jungleflasher open source(point to dummy.bin)
open target(repack 1.6 liteon non_stealth) click spoof source to target.
get the file and just rename it(so iprep knows it) and use the latest iprep to do the erase and write?
thanks again

Re: Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
yep
that is right
but
if you dont have a via chipset
i would use jungle flasher to do the whole thing.

Re: Upgrading firmware to ixtreme_v1.6_nostealth
oh man
im in problem again:(
i tried following exactly what i did before(for the original flashing of my liteon drive after it hanged during the jungleflasher thing inside windows)
i created a new firmware using my old dummy file and nonstealth 1.6
i used the totorial
ran dosflash, it recognize the drive and asks if to send mtk i press Y and then toggle power off and on and it hangs on either x0d2 or 0x52(power off or on)
(drive was half open as before and i toggle power off and on after pressing YES)
am i doing something wrong here?
should i use jungleflasher inside windows 7 64bit maybe?
any help appreciated
