What are the differences in the wii models? Like is the european model the same as the Australian version?

Ive been told that the games are region coded, not sure about how the hardware differs.

I was going to buy a new wii from the UK and ship it over to Australia here.

As far as I know its only a matter of NTSC vs PAL.
