PS3 exploit found

Hello hypervisor, I'm geohot
I have read/write access to the entire system memory, and HV level access to the processor. In other words, I have hacked the PS3. The rest is just software. And reversing. I have a lot of reversing ahead of me, as I now have dumps of LV0 and LV1.
3 years, 2 months, 11 days...thats a pretty secure system
Took 5 weeks, 3 in Boston, 2 here, very simple hardware cleverly applied, and some not so simple software.
Shout out to George Kharrat from iPhoneMod Brasil for giving me this PS3 a year and a half ago to hack. Sorry it took me so long
As far as the exploit goes, I'm not revealing it yet. The theory isn't really patchable, but they can make implementations much harder. Also, for obvious reasons I can't post dumps. I'm hoping to find the decryption keys and post them, but they may be embedded in hardware. Hopefully keys are setup like the iPhone's KBAG.
A lot more to come...
Geohot is the guy who hacked the iPhone, made bl@ckra1n etc. No doubt it will take a lot of work but at least its a start.

well if someone finds a sucessful way to hack or mod a ps3 let me know. then i will buy one. i will wait til then

Alright, my PS3 was starting to collect dust, I have the 20 gig with no wifi built in first edition model, sounds promising but now if the Zpack was only real, I have a friend in europe looking into it. Cant wait, but patiently waiting, Cheers...

Awesome new! I was wondering if anyone was even still working on the PS3. Hopefully something real interesting will come of this, before the next gen consoles come out.

Buying a console just cause it's hacked, c'mon people, buy them cause you want to.
I for one am rather saddened by this news, if backups become a reality, PSN will get flooded with 'kiddies' and bring down the class of on-line gaming, just like it has with the 360.

Iv always wanted to get a PS3 but never had a reason to get one
Hopefully we will see some REAL homebrew not this piracy shit we have on the 360
I want homemade games, tools/apps and use some of the raw power the PS3 has to offer, windows anyone?
Run blue ray films play PS3 exclusives
I hope its complicated am gonna enjoy ripping that "bad word" to shreds

I want to use my PS3 as a pc. I would love that graphic power for 300 bucks. u can never get a 300 buck pc with the power that a ps3 has
