my xbox has finally biten the dust booo! i have fixed a few times over the past year using the RROD fix on this site and most recently the shim fix, but now nothing is working so i,m considering re flashing to stock firmware and re-attaching the xclamps and putting my in tacked warranty sticker back on and sending it back to microsoft. has any one had any luck with this in the UK? i've come up with a problem straight away as iprep wont recognize my original firmware, but jungleflasher does!!! this is no good as jf has never recognized my sata port on my motherboard. any ideas on the problem with iprep? i could attach my firmware to this post, but i'm not sure that is allowed?
many thanks dave

my a bootable iprep once you have done the go to my computer and open the iprep folder up i there should be a backup folder open the back up folder and make a new folder call it 1234567 then open that folder in there make a folder called 12345 open that and put in your original F/W and change the file from ofw (benofw.bin) to cfw (bencfw.bin) your may have samsung or a lite-on drive but you should get the picture then boot up in iprep and go straight to the falsh (fben 1234567 12345) and you should know the rest from there

It only works so many times.

It matters how you mount the heat sinks after performing the reflow. Not a good idea to use original screw or X-clamps. Makes the board flex and RROD will return. Just have the screws through the mobo,

Sent my elite back about 2 months ago with the xclamps removed, drive was flashed and they retured it back fixed not brand new because i still had my original dvd drive and it was still flashed, so it proberly depends how bad your console is broken if you are to get a new one back or not

Man think i'm gonna deffo send mine back then. think i'll flash the drive back to stock just to be safe but leave the xclamp off, will let everyone know how it goes. regarding this iprep problem, i have my original firmware an so can change its name to .bin for both files and create the folders 123456 and 12345. but i no longer have a bootable iprep stick can i use any version of fw to create this bootable drive using iprep and then place these files/folders on it?

They will probably send you a refurbished console different serial # and probably a lite on drive.

well after a trip from uk to Germany to Prague and back the ups man delivered it back today unfixed with a note from microsoft stating that the console had been tampered with (which it has) bo*****cks!!!!!!! so i might try to reflow the board in my oven

and then in no joy put it up for spares on ebay and buy a new one.

Damn, why do you think they thought it was tampered with? I'm in the U.S, never really had any problem with sending one in.
