first the xbox1 game has to be on the backward compatibility list and you have to have a Hard drive on your 360
as long as you have that
then do this.

there is a lot of info in the "360 Tutorials"

Do you need the Sh-d162C dvd drive to back up an original game or will any dvd drive that can read/write dl dvds do?

i think any dvd drive could read the xbox game and you can actually make a iso of your original and then burn it using imgburn or clonedvd on a dual layer disk with a break of 191760 and booktype as dvd rom.

but i reckon you need to use the drive in order to dump those two files.

nope
it has to be a dvd drive that has the kreon firmware in it.
That is the only way for a dvd drive to read a xbox1 or xbox360 orig game.

that guide is for flashing a sh-d162c dvd drive.
THAT WILL NOT WORK. with your drive.

You can't use a matshita dvd-ram uj-842 to read xbox or xbox 360 games. You have to have an sh-d162c drive.
