Pa3 fans running loud

If you have a Ps3 and it in a well ventilated area, but the fans still crank up really loud more than likely the heatsinks are loose and you may need some new thermal compound. My 40gig fans began to get really loud after a few minutes of play, but I did what I stated above and now its all good. Just make sure you screw the heatsinks back on as tight as you can. Hope this helps someone in need.

your quite right on this you know you are up for trouble with your ps3 when the fans get 'loud'. when you clean them out and like you say put some new compound in them, you notice the difference in the fan to the point where i have thought the fans not running but it was.

Those clamps for the heatsinks were pissing me off, but slightly bending them to get more pressure did the trick.

my 40gb ps3 goes really loud when playing a dvd.had me worried but when playing games its very quiet..wierd
