Yup i did that already and put it so it reads at 4x
still nothing just wont let me read but it reconizes it

i have A: floppy
two hard drives
and my lite on burners
and my SH-163b
Another thing i wanted to bring up in case it matters
I have a ide controller in my pci slot to run my 2nd hd cause one of my ide port on my mobo went bad
so as i got it config now is my lite on primary hooked up with my primary hd
and the ide controller loading my 2nd hd
I know im in need for a new pc and in the mist of buying one with sata on the mobo
Do u think this is any reason why this wont read my game.

I just can't think what it is either maybe its the sata im not sure .
Maybe i will try a different card think im out of all other options.
Is there any certain kind that is proven to work.

only has one and a esata on the back
i was planing to use it to flash my benq
if my connectivity kit ever gets here.

try reflashing with the Kreon FW... i think it worked for somebody else on the forum. also check the jumpers on the back. if you have any other drives set it as slave, otherwise it needs to be master. just some things to check that i've heard work.

So your only sata port is on the PCI card that you installed? That rules out trying it on a different port. If you had other sata ports, I would suggest trying a different port.

Do you have any DVD ripping software running in the background, if so turn it off.

Do you have the Vista Transformation pack? If so, you may have to re-install windows from scratch to get it to work.

Try putting the game in the drive, then reboot the computer and then when you get back to the desktop, try ripping the game out.

You can try re-flashing the kreon firmware. Its easy to do, just go to xbins and download the kreon firmware for the sh-d163b drive, extract the rar file and run the sfdnwin.exe file. Make sure the sh-d163b drive is selected in the drop down, then click the button in the upper left hand corner, the one with the folder icon on it. Then select the kreon 163b firmware. Then click the button just to the right of the folder button and it should flash the drive.

Other than that, it would have to be either some software configuration (drivers or some application that uses the sata bus to communicate) interfering with the drive, or the drive itself. If it will read regular dvd's and cd's, then its highly unlikely to be the drive. I would think about trying the drive in a friends computer to verify that it works or not. If it does work, then you know its something with this particular computer and you might consider getting an external case, one that will convert it from sata to USB and try it that way.

If you can't get it to work any other way and if you have room for an IDE device, shoot me a PM, I might be able to work something out for you.

yea my secondary ide port is not working for some reason just think it went bad doesn't reconize anything.
I have xp so that rules out the vista.
i have anydvd on the pc but shut it off like recommended.
im not sure if any one of my friends pc have sata i will try to look.
If i reflash the drive nothing will be hurt from it right.
plus when i open Schtrom360Xtract_v3.4 it says quote
"can't get feature list from drive! It is a keron compatible drive,
but don't seem to be flashed with the right firmware.
Drive is to be used as a normal dvd-rom!"

Then i hit ok then quote

"only xbox backup disc can be extracted on a normal dvd-rom
without a patched firmware! You can' extract original discs!

So i think it might be patched wrong as i said before i bought this on ebay and the guy
said he flashed it with the firmware.
