Is there a v1 and v2 of this series? and how would you tell, and am i right in saying you would flash one like a 9 series and the other like a 7 series...

Yep.
v1 is flashed like a 7 series (minus the probe)
v2 is flashed exactly like a 9 series.
The way to check is to treat it like a v1, and try reading the drive, if it fails to read its a v2. You can also check by the MFR of the drive, but that's not guarentee'd and I cant remember the dates off the top of my head.

August 09 the date of this drive. When you say minus the prob just like flashing a benq, sammy or hitachi drive?

That's lovely just done it now took 30 second. Thanks HaGGardSmurf before you said about drives and MFRs in comparision to checking the version of the drive. If you find any links that can help me in refrence to next time that would be great no worrys if you find anything just let me no.
