starting again with hhd jtag?

Hi I've been tring to sort out my jtag and failing and have put things onto it that don't work,so was wanting to start over and get everything off the hhd.Do I just delete xex menu or is it best to reformatt to fat 32 (will it still work on standard xbox360 after I've done that or do I have to do something else before I install xex menu) what I want to do is have freestyle dash on it and I'm thinking its best to start from scratch.thanks for the help-J
