ps3 over heating

a good friend of mine just called to say his ps3 is shutting down , when he turns it on it says it is ove heating and shuts down when he turns it back on it says it wasnt shut down properly last time any idea what this is please and how to fix it

overheating never a good thing.check fan is working
never seen warning on ps3 that it not been shutdown properly.unplug all leads,then plug in and power up,see what happens.
allow it to cool first
flash all phat's and slim drives upto 1175fw.awaiting delivery of cr3lite

Your heatsink may also be filled with dust (make sure fan is working before opening ps3)

thanks guys , ye i have seen it before when i fixed one a long time ago when i turned it on it said it wasnt shut down properly before
amyway so i dont need to take this apart and heat the board or anything like with the yellow light , it is just a cooling prob
