very special Xbox 360

I dont know how the law or rules are regarding this subject but it is hypothetical ;) lets say I managed to get my hands on a developer xbox 360 that was included in a lot of RRODs I hypothetically purchased from ebay. And lets say that I repaired the RROD and fired it up to discover the weird unknown software and the launchable normal dashboard which for the sake of science we'll say it has version 2.0.6719.0 which is most definitely jtaggable. hypothetically speaking do you think it would be possible to jtag it? or would the NAND contain extra data that you wouldn't want to overwrite? If I were to speculate, on this hypothetical situation, Id wonder what would happen since the dev boxes have extra hardware including extra plugs and a huge weird looking device that sits where the normal hard drive goes which house not one but 2 hard drives. It also includes an oversized power supply assumably to power the extra hardware. Any theories?

there is no reason to jtag a dev console
it will run unsigned code as it is

there is no reason to worry about having a dev console man
as far as i know

there's not a lot out there on dev console because the people with them
have a good understanding of what it will/can do.

the thing to keep in mind is that when a person jtags a console that is what they are doing
turning it into a dev console (more or less)
after jtag the console will run unsigned code
it dont matter if that code is a homebrew program or a home made game

Sweet well i really like this forum I didnt want to get in trouble or anything (hypothetically) ;) ok well maybe you can help me then, the main reason I considered jtagging it was because the original dvd drive was not included. So I need the dvd key to reflash a new drive right? anyway to get that without jtagging it?

all you should have to do is put a dvd drive in it
it should not need a key
not 100% on that

if it does then yes you will need to get the drive key from the console

I dumped the drive that it came with then reflashed a different drive (same model) and neither will play original or backups. when games are inserted it either shows the "insert this game into a 360 console video or says play dvd". I sense in the force that the dvd drive is not the original, it is a 2008 hdmi xbox and has a hitachi 47 in it. Ive modded a few and I dont ever remember that combination. It should be a Hitachi 79 or a benny by my estimates

question is if I dump the NAND can I get the dvd drive key from it? Ive heard of people doing it but Im having trouble locating relevant data. And how do I update the dashboard to the right 7xxx dashboard for the jtag hack without a dvd drive?

you want update the dash at all
any dash lower than that one will work
yea that would not have had a old ass hit dvd drive in it

that is why we have not got more into the jtag stuff
its just not 100% even on the console that have a dash that can be jtag
so
i just dont care as long as i can play backups ;)

I bought a cygnos chip and did the jtag hack to a very nice hdmi console then put a 500 gb internal hard drive in it, hooked up a dual bay external with 2x2tb drives and filled that sucker with about 200 games and maybe 200 xbl arcade games as well as the dlc for most of the games I installed. It runs beautifully it really is quite a majestic machine I love it terribly. I loaded a modified xex for Halo Reach at least a week before it released I had 2 billion credits and had all the armor unlocked and max rank it was SWEEEEEEEEET. You can do mods to games with this thing so easy plus it made me at least 200 bucks hosting 10th prestige lobbies for COD before I got tired of all the bums and beggers spamming the hell out of my xbl gamertag and email. I must have unbanned that xbox 30 times by now lol but seriously I doubt it will ever be 100% man get you one of these before they're all gone ;) The cygnos chip is a masterful piece of equipment quicksolder pads make it by far one of the most pleasant solder jobs I have done.

Jtag is definitely the way to go. Ive done about a dozen or so and they rock. the process isnt very hard either, takes a steady hand and a little time. I have had a chance to bring back to life some old consoles that had bricked drive flashes (like back in the 360fwtb days). If you can get your hands on one.....

LOL @Tonyuk73 thats funny. I am lucky to have found it I think, now if I can just get it running properly without bricking the poor thing. Xperimenting on it is the last thing I want to do, but having an only partially functioning one is worse to me. I am gonna try to dump the nand so I can get the dvd key I want this one to be like the holy grail of modded 360s ;)
