Robin Hoods Playground

hello i was wondering is there a fix for the dvd drive being stuck open... i know what the issue is, the mechanism to raise and lower the laser isnt functioning properly...is there a fix or should i just junk it?

i would get my key off it
then flash it in a new dvd drive

Is it a sammy? Most times it's the elastic/band is worn out, but its hard to find a new one, its easier to just buy a new drive like cofree suggested.
