i am thinking of ways to try and stop my sons getting banned this year , the things i am doing is as follows , first i have 2 brand new xboxes i have got the keys from them and stored them incase i need them , i have taken the drives out and flashed the original firmware of my two sons xboxes on them , when the update is due i will take the drives out of my sons xboxes and put the new ones with original firmware on , secondly i was thinkging of formating the hard drives aswell after moving all saves etc to another hard drive , because i asume you need the hard drive in when you update it , then i will download the update then put the old plashed drives back in , please give you views on this

good luck man
it has been our understanding that they is at least a chance the console logs the action of a console even if its not on live
and stores this info some where other than the HD.

what you have done sound like you have things covered
but i would not bet the farm they will not get banned

what is going to drive you nuts is when one of them gets banned and the other does not.

i have had that happen to us here in the game room before.

I know quite alot of people including some of my family that dont care for xbox live, so what I would say is accept the ban wave, If one of both get banned try find someone that has an xbox but dont care about live, see if you can straight swap it with their unbanned one. My cousin jumped at it when I got banned and he was buzzing with it as you can imagine. If not then try your luck taking it in a games shop and sell it or ask for trade and hope they dont check the warranty seal, as most places I know just check to see if its working ok.

I know its woorth a try and hopefully it comes out good for your sons but in my mind I just accept Im gonna be banned and make sure Ive got another one in hand or buy one once its happened as you can pick a second hand one up now for brass buttons.

They do take banned console's all they do is power the console up, put a game in make sure it play's. If its a yes to both, they take the console. About a year ago when the ban wave had hit, I was with a friend of mine buying new box's and he made a comment about being banned, they had no idea what that meant, and we ended up explaining it to them.

The only way to check anyways would be to plug into live and try to sign in.

I had a console banned during last years ban wave, however my roomates console didnt get banned. Same Firmware same backups.....only difference was that he was out of town from mid oct - mid nov. His console hadnt been turned on or logged in during the ban wave and it hasnt been banned yet. Hes planning on not using his modded 360 from now until a few days after the next ban goes around

My cousin was the same thing, I flashed his console, and he didnt play at all during the ban wave, and I recently did some work on his console, and noticed the drive was flashed with 1.51 (hitachi) and its not banned.
