i wasn't sure if there was a thread on this.
i dont have access to my desktop so i was trying to flash drives with my laptop.
i did the same thing as my desktop.
installed port io and everything else.
i turn on JF and it says no com ports found.
what do i need to do?
I am using a Dell E1505 laptop
using a usb to sata adapter
with ck3 pro tool and ck3 probe all from xecuter.
my pro tool powers up fine. just not finding any com ports.

Thats the way I understand it as well.
The only person I know of to have flashed with a laptop is shootsteel, as far as I know you need very specific hardware.

he did it with a laptop that has a true sata HD in it
so he was able to use the sata port for the dvd drive and boot on a usb flash ti flash the dvd drive
i think that is what he did
also it did not have a via chip set
so he did not need to mess with all that changing the driver crap
the best bet is to just buy a cheap ass pc with xp
and use it for your flashing

damn man
if i knew a way that you could get it done i would sure help all i could
but there is just nothing that comes to mind
i dont guess you could get your hands in a pc that is on base
if it has sata ports on the mobo and is not via chipset
then its GAME ON
