The New Issues With The 360

Hey guys, I've been out of the loop for nearly a year because of school and want to get caught up on a few games including Fable 3 and the new Fallout but was reading a few threads on here and it says a few things about an update on the dashboard and for certain new issued games? Just wondering what it's all about? I've been reading a bit on it but don't really understand it much. Would someone with a little more knowledge be able to help? Thanks a lot!

if you take the new live update
it will install a new check for backup disc
called ap25 check
they have a way of telling if you are trying to play a backup disc
if so it will log that fact and wont let the game play

DONT TAKE THE UPDATE
if you have a benq or a liteon dvd drive

there are a few thing if you have a samsung and most (if not all hit) dvd drive you should be ok as those dvd drive dont (cant) support the ap25 check

they are working on new firmware to help cover this ap25 check
but there is no eta on its release

i have not took the update on any of my consoles at this point
even the ones with a samsung dvd drive

there is no down grading a xbox 360

Thanks for the info. I have one of the oldest models of the Hitachi in my console, so what you are saying is that there may be a possibility that if I update I won't be affected? And if I play a backed up copy of Fable III on iXtreme 1.6 it should work no problem? Thanks again!

So I just turned my xbox on for the first time in about 2 months and the first thing that popped up was the system update. It said that I would not be able to log onto xbox live if i decline. So basically I won't be able to safely play online unless i update? And is this the actual update or is it just a basic one and i have to update manually from the dashboard? I'm just covering all of my bases. thanks again.
