gamertag - switching between two xboxs?

Post by JaWzZz »

I know its never "safe" to go online with hacked firmware but what if...

you own two xboxs, one unmodded and the other modded (firmware)

would you be able to switch your gamertag between the two? (un-noticed by live)

Could they ban the gamertag if you tried signing into live (unmodded xbox) after playing the modded one?
Would you leave the saves on the modded xbox HDD?

In a nut shell:
can you use a memory card to switch live profile between the two xboxs, without live knowing you were on a modded one?

Thanks for any feedback.

YES! This is the safest thing to do and many highly encourage this.

M$ bans flashed CONSOLES, not profiles. Very important difference. In theory, there are ways to detect it, but M$ bans flashed consoles on the claim the console violated the Live terms of use: no flashed consoles may connect. You don't do that, so M$ has nothing to do.
But there's no sense crying over every mistake,
you just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake.

so.... in other words all the data that ms needs to see in order to ban a console is in the console itself? not the hdd?

no not necessarily but
that have never banned a account for moving a Hd back and forth from one console to another

right now its by far the safest way to play backup games

Great, thanks guys.

Its ok if i leave the live profile on the memory card and just switch it out between the two. Or does it have to be the HDD?

Keep in mind M$ does ban profiles, they dont just ban consoles.

If you are suspected of modifying your profile in any way, or cheating for gamerscore they can and will ban you. Some people will take their profile and edit their gamer score to a high number, or a specific number... M$ ban's these people, now if your getting most of your gamerscore offline, this may look suspicious, but M$ cannot ban on suspicion alone.

That said, M$ will not ban your profile as its not against any rule or policy to play offline and sign into live to update your achievements. Lots of people do this for various reasons, a guy I knew had no internet for a couple months at his new house so he would play offline, and update his GS every now and then when he would play on friend's consoles with his profile.

So doing this method is quite safe, and most people are doing it now.
