Tell apart a v1 and a v2 liteon 83850c

I know you can just try flash as a liteon v1 and if that doesn't work then you can be pretty sure you've got a v2, but is there any possible way to tell without hooking the drive up to the sata and trying to flash. Say perhaps just looking at the year of the drive....

From what I was told the liteon drives changed from V1 to V2 round about the end of july beginning of august, my V1 was july and I was able to flash with 1.6 no problem hope that helps.

Warship's right, most july's are v1 most august's are v2. It's not the most reliable way of determining, but it will work most of the time.
