Returning to modding with a few questions.
Returning to modding with a few questions.
Hi, I've been a member here for a while... but I cannot remember my old username. :-/
I have a Liteon 7400.
I want to update the iXtreme on it to the current version.
1. My drive will not let me dump firmware anymore.
I am using 360Xtractor and when I place the probe in the R707 spot the light will not turn blue.
If I touch it on nearly anywhere else on the board it will turn.
Any idea on why this is happening?
2. Since I cannot dump my FW anymore, would it be safe for me to make custom FW from the original dumps that I did and flash that modified CFW to my drive?
(I have like 1gb of successful unmodified dumps, I was paranoid.. and apparently for good reason)
3. If it would be safe to flash the CFW from 2, how would I go about doing it and bypassing the dumping part?
My computer freezes up if I change the power state of the drive while windows is running. So I will have to use iPrep (If its still around).
Sorry for the noobish questions, but I can't seem to find the answers anywhere.
Thanks

Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
1GB worth of OFW is about 4,000 copies of the FW
Well good thing you have all the OFW's because you can open jungle flasher (with drive not attached) and open ofw as source, LT+ 1.1 as target. Then hit the spoof button and then save that firmware.
Now to flash with iprep you need to just make your USB, the 1234567\12345 directory, then put your CFW in that folder. Rename it to liteofw.bin (or whatever your dump's are called, different versions of iprep use different names.)
Then in iPrep your going to use the restore command.

For like a month I would do 0000000-9999999 and in each of those 00000-99999.
Only using repetitive numbers (111-222-333 etc.)
So that was like 10 dumps of seven digits containing 10 in each of those folders.
10*10=100 doing it over 1-2 months = a bunch lol.
I had a samsung drive that I was using. so, my liteon was always connected to my computer, so It was macro'd lol.
Anyways, will I have to erase the drive or can I flash over top of the old CFW?
Thanks for the answer.

Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
As long as you are certain your key is good, then you can go ahead and flash.
Well when you flash, it first erases, then flashes each bank. So there is no real need to erase.
You can follow cofree's tutorial for recovering a lite-on.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... 195&t=3226" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It will show you how to skip the dumping process, and flash your own CFW.

Going to try it tomorrow.
Do you have any idea why the probe wont detect the R707 port?

Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
Not completely sure, your probe may be bad.
Your probe should be blue all the time, and only green when you probe the r707 point.

Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
I might be wrong and got my colors mixed up, lol.
Pretty sure the green one stays on and the blue one lights when it touches the R707.
I have this probe: http://bit.ly/hWFvdM
It's from the old 360Xtractor v1.2
Either way, It used to change colors when I touched the r707 and it is no longer doing that.
But touching it on almost anything else will make it light.
Think it's really broken?
Thanks for your continued help. :]

Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
Are you sure you dont already have LT FW on it if you do it will not let you dump it without doing the MRA hack
Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
I've never heard of this.Deathuntou wrote:Are you sure you dont already have LT FW on it if you do it will not let you dump it without doing the MRA hack
(Not sure on the version since the iXtereme naming is terribly confusing)
But, I am pretty sure that it has the very fist version of LT.
The release after 1.6 iirc. It's not the LT+.
Not sure if i can link this so im using anonym to block track backs:
http://www.xbins.org/nfo.php?file=xboxnfo1781.nfo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'm going to see what I can find about the MRA hack.
If you have any reliable links about it, please share.
Thanks Deathuntou
Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
putting a link to that stuff is fine
the mra trace cutting hack
is this
its a vid i did on the dumpping and flashing of the 9000 drive
but
the hack is the same
if you have a liteon dvd drive of any kind and it has the LT firmware on it
it will not dump unless you do the mra hack
watch this vid

Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
yeah if it was the LT FW you last put on it you will need to follow Cofree's Vid to dump itxNotta wrote:I've never heard of this.Deathuntou wrote:Are you sure you dont already have LT FW on it if you do it will not let you dump it without doing the MRA hack

I am currently watching the video, but youtube won't let me get over 20kb/s, so it's taking a while.CoFree wrote:putting a link to that stuff is fine

(I'm 5 min in and i've been loading it for almost a hour.)
What exactly does the MRA do? Is it supposed to replace the probe?
and would using my OFW backups be the easier way to go? (My soldering skills are pretty bad)
And after I do LT+ will I have to do the MRA if I ever wanted to dump again?
Also, i'm going to be redoing my computer after finals week.
Would you say Win XP x86(32bit) would be the best for working with the drives?

Re: Returning to modding with a few questions.
Yeah you should be able to take your dummy.bin file and use it in JF to build your LT+ FW then flash the built LT+ FW into your drive. I would run XP for now. No as long as you have your dummy.bin and the other files your ok even with LT+ as I understand it, just dont loose the dummy file it has the key in it.
