can i flash an 800 series lite on with just a probe or do i need to solder and stuff?

a v1 8000 you can do with a probe
and a v2 8000 you will have to do the mra trace cutting hack

how do u tell the difference??

You do not need a probe to do the v1. The v2 will require the MRA hack. You can tell the difference by trying to do the dump method for the v1. If it works it's obviously a v1, if dump is unsuccessful v2

so on a v1 you just do a
the device intro to be able to read.

From what I was told the liteon drives changed from V1 to V2 round about the end of july beginning of august, my V1 was july and I was able to flash with 1.6 no problem hope that helps.
