Update to new dashboard?

Hey guys I just got back into the states. Been busy, but is it okay to update to the new dashboard?

I am assuming it's the new dashboard since its telling me that there is an update do I want to update or not.

man there is new checks on the game disc
called ap25
if you have to use that console on live
then you need to do a dvd drive firmware update
then i would install the dash update from a usb flash
and only then put the console on live
that is if you are not running a 2 console system (recommended)

CRAP! I got home today and my girlfriend wanted to watch NETFLIX so she updated my dashboard@!!
Soon as I read your post I asked her if she played any games yet and she said no.
I don't plan on playing any games on LIVE. I usually just play them on a nonLIVE account will I be okay?

And this new LT+... for Benq should I bother updating my drive to it now?

The post is in the trusted members area of the board, I'll leave it up to cofree to decide if he wants to move it out to the public. That's the reason, your not part of that user group.

Simple answer, break up with her.

haha, no I'm kidding. I try to stay out of the loop of thing's until we get official info from the top guy's about the update. Anyhow it looks like this update will stop your backups from working offline or online, so playing offline or online doesnt matter you still will have issues. If you weren't on LT+ you definitely will need to be now, but wait until the dust settles maybe a new FW will need to be released, or maybe everything will be fine as it is.

For now all you can really do is just keep backups out of the console until we know more.

good news my girlfriend updated the dashboard, but not the 1-19-2011 update as I logged into live it asked for the update. So I am asumming don't take that update.

And my backups are still working. So jsut don't take the 1-19-2011.

No dont take that update.

Sounds to me like she just took a netflix update, I had one a little while back also.

It looks like the update to the new dash only effects a few games, and stops them from working. So if you have one of the few games it effect's you'll need to apply the new ap 2.5 patch for the game and burn a new backup. No new drive FW is needed.

Black Ops is still working I also updated my BenQ to LT+.

So far all my backups still working. Hope more info comes soon about this update... it's like a virus haha.

You need to apply the ap 2.5 patch to black ops. Just run the iso through abgx and burn, it should work.

You know what really sucks about this? I only have one xbox and now we can't get on LIVe without the update and no netflix and my GF is going to kill me cause that's her life and man... CRAP hahaha.

And her computer screen is only a 19 so she wants the big 47 for the movies..... damn it microsoft!!
