change gamertag email account?

been trying to sign up for this $40 one year deal for XBL. problem is that my gmail account is tagged to my gamertag and every time i put in the password for the gmail account, on the xbox, it says invalid password or email account. now, I use this email account as my main email account and the password i know is correct. so, what is wrong with the 360 not accepting my password. I have tried several passwords to no avail. i have had a hotmail account for years. is there a way to change the email account associated with my gamertag.?

I thought you had to have a Live email attached to the gamertag, so the gmail account is just wrong.

yep yep my son couldnt get his gmail to werk either he jus made a yahoo acct

I'm pretty sure the only way to change the email on an account is to phone xbox and have them do it.

I didnt know you could use non hotmail email's for xbox live

yeah myself n both my kids use yahoo for it
