360 Lite-On Drives emerge
>> From shauno on forums.xbox-scene.com...
microsoft repair center in Australia, it had a BENQ drive which didnt seem to flash via dosflash. Apon inspection i believe there is a new drive revision!

Model no. DG-16D2S
HW Version. A0A1
FW Version. 74850

We are currently trying to find data sheets on this controller to further analyze security. It appears to be a masked-rom (read-only) setup, similar to that of the xbox original, version 1.6. If you have or can find any spec's on the MediaTek controller above, please post in the forum thread!

this is what is on xbox scene.

It will take more than just C4E. It will take someone to figure out how to dump the drive first. Once that happens, the CFW shouldn't take that long to figure out for C4E. Then they would have to figure out how to write it. If it is write once, then we may be in some trouble with this drive.

for some reason, i think these new benqs will be lost cause without a modchip.

let's hope not though, i hope the good 360 scene guys can work it out.

if not this is gonna really suck if they spill over here to the usa an end up really being unflashable.

Rumors say that a blu-ray equiped 360 well be around for the coming Christmas holiday. Those will most liekly be un-moddable for a while too, IF they come into existance that is.

So now would be a good time to stock up on new 360s?--to have what we need before this new unmoddable drive comes out?

If you got the extra jack it might not hurt. I'm not to worried about it because I know cofree has 13 or 14 of them just sitting around. I may have to sneak one while he's not looking.

I went to mod a 360 today that my friend just got back from M$, I regret to inform you all It was another of these unmoddable BenQ Lite-On drives, I did a double take and said nah, I live in the US, but sure as hell, heres the Model # and stuff:

Model# D6-16D2S
HW Version A0A1
FW Version 74850C

I didn't realize it until I booted to my BenQ setup IPREP USB stick and started trying to dump the FW, it simply did not respond after I powered it on. After half an hour or so, I gave up and came back here only to find this thread. I still have the cursed thing handy if theres any way I can contribute please let me know. Short of shipping the drive off to a foreign address i'll do whatever I can to help get the sucker cracked
