Hello, I recently bought what I thought was the new benq drive off ebay from hongkong,
It was supposed to replace an old hitachi which is bricked but I have the key from the orig dump.
Turns out what I received was an early version that was only in developer consoles the benq 1650v.

I couldn't get the drive to dump the firmware properly, and now I don't know what to do? Can anyone point me in the right direction? If someone else sends me a firmware dump from their 1650v can I use it by replacing the key with the old key and spoofing as hitachi with benq ixtreme 1.41 firmware? I hope so.

I'm not thinking that drive will work. Form what I understand, that was a prototype of the Benq drive. It was for use on developing the drive for the 360 and was used on debug units. If this is the case, the drive may or may not work well even as a stock unit with retail games. It may not even work at all since it was for use on debug units.

I emailed the seller of this old benq drive and after two emails they agreed to send me a new benq vad6038 it's in customs right now, hope it gets through alright

Wow, I would not have expected that. I would have bet you were stuck with it. Glad to hear it, gives me just the slightest bit of respect for humanity. OK maybe I went to far with that last statement!

Excellent news. I would have thought like Jman and that you would have been stuck with that drive. When you get your new drive and if you need any help, just let us know and we'll help you get it sorted.
