no hard drive

hi guys i have iqon laptop dont no much about it my son just uses it to go on facebook , jesterday it just went off , just a black screnn so i tried to do a reinstale but it is saying there is no hard drive conected and there is why would it suddenly say this

because the HD crashed
i see it all the time
even with out of the box pc and laptops
get a different HD and try a reload

If he only uses it for facebook and those sorts of things, grab a usb stick and install a linux distro on it.
Just about all, if not all linux distro's can run off a usb drive no problem. I've used ubuntu a bunch off a usb drive to tweak a few things I cant really do in windows.
Ubuntu and pretty well all linux distro's are free, you may want to look into this if you want to avoid paying a bunch of money for a new HDD to be put in the laptop.
