AT&T And Verizon Blocking Tethering Apps From Android Market

after reading a page at DROIDLIFE Verizon may be blocking Wireless Tether and pdanet from the market, I digged around. Sure enough, I was unable to find Wireless Tether or Pdanet in the market. So to see what was really going on, I jumped into the browser and went to Android Market to see if I could find the app and did.
AT&T and Verizon don’t seem to be in a good mood. Both the carriers have now blocked tethering applications found
in the Android Market. Apps like(PDANet and Wireless Tether).
now you won’t be able to find applications like these in the Android Market. This has been a major limitation with buying a cellphone on contract, you literally have to play by their rules. Users can still sideload .apks to their device though, which is something that both AT&T and Verizon cannot stop you from doing as of now. The banning of tethering applications however is a rather worrying issue, considering the fact that Android is an open source platform.
