This update did not rewrite your hacked firmware like the last update. From the #C4E irc channel-

13599 Dash Update:

Fact 1. DO NOT update on 9504/0272 - they lock the spi on the chip!! pro kit or pcb required
Fact 2. The new dash 13599 updates ap2.5 challenges. update if you want live. stay offline and dont update if you cant wait for new ap2.5 patches
Fact 3. The update is NOT just simply to set up some background technology for further improvements later this year
Fact 4. Use your original AP2.5 games! Abgx will be updated eventually!

dont take the effing update, i did and got banned. even though i flashed back to stock, it failed to take the update, and gave me an error code which translated to BAN

i think microsoft are starting to win, its just becoming an endless struggle now to stay updated and wait for new fimware, new abgx patches etc.
its like microsoft are rolling these updates out for fun these days, i get updated, reflashed to new firmware and all is good then BANG microsoft rolls out another.
what ever happened to the days where you could update and have a few months of play before the next.

the trouble is live
if you want to keep playing your backup on live then this is going to be the game
at least for the next little while

just playing backup off line its not that big of a deal.

does this update render the drive useless? because i had a bloke bring me his console which wouldnt take the update, i flashed the drive back to the post post firmware for phat lite on drives, took the update fine, flashed 1.9 to the drive and it wouldnt boot any games... flashed back to stock and it still wouldnt play originals, i think microsoft are getting the upper hand here, not good

Hmmm... Try reflashing the drive, my stuff is working fine.

then there is something wrong

i have took the lastest update on my modded console i use for backups and things are working fine
its a v28
there could be something different about it being a benq or liteon
but
ive not heard about anything
other than it locking the slim liteon drives so they cant be flash
ive not heard of it doing that to phats
7400 or 8300
i think i did read it would lock a 9400 drive

So yet again, we have another mandatory system update from microsoft and once again some people will face new problems.

1. All LT+1.1 and older users will get errors when updating to this new dashboard.
(i)Users on Slim LT+1.1 will not be able to reflash their xbox after this update SO PLEASE DO NOT UPDATE YOUR CONSOLE.
(ii) Phat LT+ 1.1 users will be able to reflash their xbox even if they get errors after updating to this firmware.

2. Lt+ 1.9 users can safely update their consoles but after the update, they wont be able to play Ap2.5 games. The current ap2.5 game list includes
(i) Assassins Creed Brotherhood
(ii) Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
(iii) Call of Duty Black Ops
( iv) Fable 3
(v) Need for Speed Hot Pursuit

SOLUTIONS:

1. All users running LT+1.9 should/can update their consoles and wait for new ap2.5 data by the abgx team. For you, this update will only affect the above 5 games and everything else will work fine.
(i) Some people on LT+1.9 might get an error while updating but a simple reflash will solve this. To reflash, first flash your xbox to stock firmware, connect to xbox live and update to the 19th july firmware, and then flash the console to LT+ 1.9

2. All users running LT+1.1 and older firmwares; this is the time to update your consoles to Lt+ 1.9. YOU CAN NOT remain on older firmwares anymore because microsoft is releasing new system updates very quickly. So to be safe, flash your consoles now.

3. Last but not the least, i have seen 2 people who got banned by microsoft after updating to this firmware. This could be bad luck or anything, so i am still not sure what will happen exactly. So you still might not be safe even if you are running LT+1.9

If you are unsure about what will happen to your console, THEN PLEASE, do not go online with your console and DO NOT update it. If you dont update, you will still be able to play all games released before today.

yea i took the update too i have a ap 2.5 flag lol anyway there is some news on the new ap 2.5 patches
