Need Help. Booting from flash drive , it just gives me 'j'

I used iPrep to create a bootable flash drive, so I can flash my BenQ drive. I did this before on this computer, but not with the Blaster360, a BenQ drive or this flash drive.

I changed the BIOS to boot from the flash drive but when it does it just says "j" with blinking text indicator next to it. I can not type anything in though.

It is really getting on my nerves because I have no error message to go off of.

try creating a a bootable usb flash with the "hp usb format tool" & a win98 boot image - then prepare the flash in iprep but do not check the bootable option ;)

Thanks for the reply's.

I already tried using the HP software but it gives me the same error. I did try using a different flash drive but all I have is two 8 gig flash drives. iPrep uses, I believe the FAT file sytem, and neither flash drive supports it. So I will get another from work tomorrow and see what happens.

Yeah I believe really large flash drives can cause errors with iPrep and 360 flashing. I wouldn't go over a 1GB flash drive. You can also use a floppy if you have a floppy drive. USB is preferred and regarded as safer and more reliable however.

Thanks fellas.

It was the flash drive, I used a different 1 Gb flash and it booted just fine. I just didn't think it was it because I tried my 1 Gb flash and the other two 8 Gb, but I guess you never know. Thanks for your replies really appreciate it.

By the way I do have a floppy drive but I really don't trust it, so I was only going to use it as a last resort.

glad you got it man. :D
yea
you dont want to use the floppy unless you have to.
even then you would want to make sure it was in good working order. ;)

Yup, like CoFree says about the floppy drives. If you don't trust it, don't use it. My floppy drive works great so I know I can use it if I had to.

I tried using my 4gb Verbatim flash drive, and it didn't work. I then tried with a generic 1gb flash drive, and it worked wonders.
