What does the case say the drive is? Does either of you have the key stored somewhere?

There's a chance they put a lite-on case on a benq drive. Seeing as how Phillips made both systems its not that hard to do. You may have to look at the board inside to know for sure. If it's a lite-on you'll have to open the case anyways especially if this came from a box that was recently updated.

Try dumping it with DosFlash. JungleFlasher should still recognize that it's a lite-on. Weird. I would use DosFlash and see how that works. You may actually have to use some form of DOS program. But first try the GUI dosflash version.

It sounds like they flashed a benq firmware, not a spoofed lite-on FW. Wasnt sure that was even possible...

Like technoe said try dosflash also have a look at this http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... 195&t=3226 following this guide, you will erase the drive and write lite-on FW, there are no safety checks in place like in jungle flasher, so you wont be told the drive is the wrong type etc, it will just go ahead and send the erase command and write the new FW to the drive.

JUST MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE KEY. If you re-write the drive without the proper key and there isn't a back up anywhere then your buddy is screwed.
