My first post and its a problem, lol.

I have a problem installing my SATA card i bought this one Newegg.com - Rosewill RC-212 PCI SATA / IDE Controller Card SATA 150 + ATA 133 : Supports Raid 0, 1, 0+1, JBOD, un-RAID mode - Controllers / RAID Cards
I plugged the card in the PCI of my computer, and installed the drivers already, but i never installed the raid since i dont want to format my HD, but my computer cannot recognize the card
Do i have to install the RAIDs??
How do i go to RAID bios??
Or what can i do so my computer would recognize the card??

Iprep wont recognize it either it just says
VIA RAID Controller - 3249
and i installed the drivers with
VIA V-Raid Software Package V5.60a

Please someone help me... Or just tell me how yall install ur card...
:(

Thank you

man i moved this to the right spot. ;)

go into your device manger and see if every thing is good
if there is no yellow or red marks then it should be good to go.

in your iprep it should say via raid controller.
as long as above that it says mtkflash and dos flash compatible you should be good.

The instructions on the Rosewill website simply says to configure the jumpers on the card for which ports you want (internal or external or a combination thereof), then insert the card into an empty PCI slot. Boot into windows and install the drivers from the install CD. Shouldn't be to terribly difficult. There are two sets of jumpers on this card. It actually has 4 ports, but only two can be active at one time. You have two external and two internal ports. I would recommend having both internal ports active. You'll have to make sure that jumpers on F are all set to 2-3 and the jumpers on G are set to 2-3 as well for it to have both internal ports active instead of the external ports. Although I don't think the jumper settings would have anything to do with your computer recognizing and utilizing the card.

If you've gone over your installation and everything looks right, try moving the card to a different PCI slot and see if that helps at all. You should not have to setup a RAID configuration for it to work.

i have the same card .
mine came with the 2 inside sata ports hot.
the one closest to the front of your computer should be the number 1 port and the one to use.

yea i almost forgot.
i put mine in one time and when i restarted the computer it found the driver itself.I did not even have to use the driver cd that came with the card.

The only thing i did is connect the card to my PCI and use the setup that is n the cd so i'd install the drivers...
I have tried changing the PCI slot but it still doesnt appear :x

Do you think i can flash my xbox with the VIA RAID Controller - 3249??? instead of the VIA VT6421 Raid controller??

You could try, we couldn't say for sure whether it would work or not. I would almost bet you have a DOA card if you plugged it into a PCI slot and windows didn't recognize it. If it were me I would try to RMA it through newegg. The first sata card I bought was DOA, but the second one I got worked like a charm.

so when you go in the device manger its just not there or is it there with a yellow or red mark by it.

i just looked at mine and it list as a via6421.
if i remember right there are working drivers that will make it show up as somethinf other than a 6421.

to get to the DM just click on start>right click my computer>properties>device manger>raid controllers click the + if there is one.
also at thgis point is there the yellow or red mark.

Good job man. I Google anything that comes to mind. It's amazing the stuff you can learn. The other day I saw an add on tv for one of those things you plug in an outlet and it keeps the bugs out of your house. I was curious if it worked or not so I Googled it. Sure enough it was a gimmick. Lots of people had the same question as me. Its like that with almost anything.
