Robin Hoods Playground

m,y sons laptop is playing up when he opens it it goes off sleep mode for a few seconds then goes back into sleep mode as if the lid is shut again if i keep opening and closeing it a few times it will stay on then
any ideas guys please

Could be the sensor on the screen/hinge itself.

What type of laptop is it? Some have a proximity sensor on the screen bezel and some have a sensor on the hinge to tell when the screen is closed, that could be whats causing the problem.
