Good Afternoon or morning to you all, depending on where ya'll at.

Its been a while since i came on this site or modded an xbox. Been really business with work, school and recently my dad died so im living by my self and the demands keep coming down. So I apologize for not visiting or keeping up to date as i needed to.

First let me provide the specs on my 360.
My game has a lite-on drive manufactured in August of 2007, originally when i flashed it I had an onboard via 775 chipset that worked great, since then, I updated my console about two times, the last was in September of 2009. The NXE update, I also reflashed my drive to the ixtreme 1.5 firmware. Why? I was only playing fifa 10 and world cup 2010.

Recently, my brother gave me a copy of his fifa 12 backup and the console asked me to update. I tried, now the game is stuck in a loop of update stopped and it gives a status code. I read somewhere where the solution is to return to stock and update the console to the lastest dashboard then reflash to lt 2.0. Is this correct? If so i have been trying but with no success, i'm still stuck in the loop. I have a new Motherboard it has a via chipset via6308p. Is it suppose to work? or I need to get the via6421?

Also, Could someone advise me of how to address the issue correctly please? I also have 2 benq drives can I spoof them and use it instead of the lite-on? Another thing I have an idea how to install the games to the Hard drive then play it from the hard drive without the cd. Dont know if it will work. I'm at work now and my shift starts now so I'll post when i get break or lunch. it involves installing the game to the HD, taking the hard drive to your computer and adding the bootable files from the dvd to save game on the HD. Dont know if this was already attempted.

Thanks for the help.

yes
that is what you need to do.

no
you are best to justfix the liteon
its not recommended that you run a console with a spoofed drive now days

no
that want work

if you are having trouble with your chipset
and its onbo via
you may want to pick up This

it works great

Thanks for responding..

I wanted to purchase that same thing however they were out of stock so I went and got a Sata card with the via6421 chipset. Should this work? Oh, I dont play on live so if I spoof the drives should there be a problem still?

Regarding the playing of the games from the hard drive, why wouldn't it work?

Thanks again.

it should but it can be a huge pain in the ass
360fifa wrote:I spoof the drives should there be a problem still?
many people have trouble play some of the ap25 games on a spoofed drive
360fifa wrote:Regarding the playing of the games from the hard drive, why wouldn't it work?
well
i would need a little more info on what
you are thinking or talking about
but for the most part you have to have the disc in the drive even if the game is on the Hd

Thanks for the responses.

I'll try and buy the x360usb from modchip.ca as well. Just to make sure that I dont delay my process any longer. I need to start playing some games im boooored...

Anyways, regarding the hack.. I was reading somewhere and the article said that when you save the game to the HD drive the xbox does not copy the bootable files to the hard drive. Therefore I was thinking thats the reason why it does not allow you to play the game str8 from the HD because the bootable files are not copied from the game cd. My thought is, if im able to save the game from the dvd to the HD then connect the HD to my PC, copy the game files from the HD via xplorer360 and copy the bootable files into it, it may work. Thats my thought... Hope you understand what i'm trying to say.

Thanks again...

Anyone has any suggestion on the idea I have? I really want to know if this will work. I cannot try this because i'm still waiting on the via6421 sata card. If anyone could advise/share their opinions on the subject I would appreciate it.

Dude if it was that easy we'd all be doing it. But Microsft has checks built into the Xbox's OS that check the DVD first before loading a game. JTAG allows it because it emulates the dvd drive therefore the Xbox thinks there's a disc in the drive.

Thanks again for responding.....

What is JTAG and how does it work...?

Would there be a way to copy an executable (xex) file on the 360's HD via your computer
that the console would run upon selecting that would install a patch that would allow/trick the dashboard into thinking that the disk is in the drive? Wish I knew reverse engineering..

Just thinking of possibilities..

Thanks again

LOL...

No wonder why no one has asnswered. I researched it and my questions are are answered. It sounds good, the only question I have though is that, does Jtagging allow you to install custom dashboards similar to XBMC?

Thanks again.

Yes. Google FSD (Freestyle Dash). Sometime soon there will be a new one called RXE, there are videos of both on youtube.
