reset button not working

hi guys a friend of mine as asked if i can take a look at her wii she said if she wants to stop a game by pressing the reset button to go back to the start nothing happens the reset button isnt working , is this a comon prob with the wii and is there a fix

ive only had the reset lock up if the console locked up
take the front off and make sure the button (the real button) does not work
it may just be something with the front cover

cheers budy il take a look at that , it is modded it wouldnt be anything to do with the mod would it
