i have a few questions about the ps3 and im trying to figure out a solution ....

my roommates kid updated my jail broken ps3 to firmware 4.30 ...so i lost my jailbreak ...i also have a 2nd ps3 that i updated from 3.10 to rogero 4.30 cfw ..but the laser is bad ...

i opened my ps3 with the bad laser and tried to swap the BR-DVD from my 4.30 ofw to the cfw but it doesn't work?

so my questions are

1.is there a way to downgrade from 4.30/4.31 ofw?
2.is there a reason the BR-DVD is not seen in my other ps3 with the bad drive ,because if i put it back in its original ps3 it works , it just wont read in my cfw ps3

3. is a original disc needed to read all homebrew and backup managers or is there an alternative ?

i just need a solution to play my games again

Can't answer all your questions, but check out ebay for ps3 v3.55 and you should come across several people offering downgrade services.

i dont wanna pay someone to down grade me if i can do it myself , i have done all of my own mods , i just need to know what works , ty

2] swapining drives will not work for each unit has its own set of keys, you have to swap boards great tut i used along time ago this video on you tube helped me out. but its for the old phat ps3 and for newer ps3 slim and extra slim i have never worked on yet but when they fail no doubt i will learn soon enough.



and 3 i can't answer sorry, try and purchase a jb 3.55cfw on the net, if you can downgrade and there is restrictions on certain makes,its a big thing to do and good luck.
