Hi there , I had to send my 360 back to m$ anyway i got it back with a nice new Benq drive in it (April 2008) so anyway hooked it up to my pc to flash it with an USB Iprep`d Mem card. I have flashed meny drives before, So here is my Problem
All go`s well untill i have to turn on my Xbox to start the dump ----> 7F turn on xbox then it swaps to 08 (Not D1) turn off Xbox wait 4 seconds turn on xbox then the 08 turns to D2 <-- Flashing, I cannot get it to start dumpin the original firmware, i must say i am a little stuck on this Any info would be awsome.
BTW i have not changed anything on my PC i the last 2 months or so and like i said i have flashed about 15 benq drives with no hassle whats so ever. :)

Try a different flash drive. Have you ever used that flash drive before?

Are you sure its a benq and not one of the new drives (I think they are lite-on)? Can you post up a pic of the tray? Cofree should have more to offer on this when he gets on.

well fella its the same as the other benq drive ie no notches out of the tray it`s a U shape so i thought it was a Benq the drive, It says on the label Phillips & Lite-on digital solution`s

Model No DG-16D2S
HW Version : A0A1
FW Version : 74850C

If that helps !

Then that is most likely the problem, it looks like MS is starting to distribute the newer BenQ's and Liteon's now. As of now there is no way to dump the firmware or mod the newer BenQ and Liteon drives. Are you in the US by any chance, there haven't been any of these drives spotted in the US that I'm aware of.

it looks like these are only being used for repaired consoles at the moment... I havn't heard any reports of them surfacing in retail packets yet.

when you sent the xbox for repair was the drive flashed with ixtreme or any firmware if it was it might be a way for them to stop you playing back ups or seomthing

As of now any xbox sent in for repair regardless of where the unit is from, when you get it back, it will more than likely have this new drive in it. You will probably start seeing them in retail units before much longer as well. They are un-moddable at the moment but of course they are being looked at by the right people.

Hi all. I just found this great site through CoFree's opening the 360 post on 360mods! I must say this site looks really nice and can't wait to delve deeper into it this summer. Anyways, I have modded gamecubes and Wiis before by soldering and have always ragged on 360 owners. I bought a PS3 a month ago and have been loving it. However, on June 7, I bought a 360 through dell and it will be here later this week. I'm not sure how much of a backstock DELL carries with these, but was wondering what the probability of getting a Lite-On drive is retail? It sounds like the probability is quite low which is great. I checked 360drives.com and it seems that most users reported a BenQ drive within the past few months. Is that simply from the users lack of general dedication to posting their drives or have Hitachi drives been cancelled? Thanks for reading.

you will have to wait and see as it all depends on probability. but if you are recieving a arcade xbox you might get either benq or the new one, if its a premium then hopefully a hit and sammy drives. hopefully you dont end up with hit 79 or the new benq. let us know what you get.

glad your here man.
there is no telling what you will get.
if you have soldered in a wii chip you should be fine if you get a v79 hit.
the benq would be the best.by far the easiest to flash.
