Hi, I first want to say that this is one the best 360 modding forums. I have been doing some research for the past few days and this is where i am at right now:

* I have purchase ( http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6815124022 ) VIA-150 PCI SATA (non raid)

* Xbox 360 arcade w/ Benq 6038 (manufactured 9/26/07)

* Have a seperate computer with a open dvd dl burner for the hotswap method (i used this tutorial but i got an error at 50%
( Image )

* A 1gb USB drive

* BenQ iXtremev1.1MultiSpeed_updated_firmtool.rar

* DosFlash16, Iprep 101- 006

What would be the best method for flashing my drive?

***Also for the hotswap method - I followed all the directions and am burnign it with dvd dectrypter. I have a Memorex dlrwl1-f16 and i am trying to burn a copy a madden 08 that i own. I am using Verbatim 2.4x Dual layer discs. I used SS merge and i included the .dmi and .pfi with it even though it said optional. When i burn it, it freezes at 50% and give me a "cannot write" error. What am i doing wrong! Thank you for helping me!!!!!!

I think the sata card should be fine

I dont like the hotswap backup at all.Your drive must read DL dvd.If you must use this.This is the safest way.

I would spend the money and get a sh-d162c dvd drive with v100 firmware.Ebay should have them for around 40.00usd
well worth the money.
You have the latest firmware.that is the one to use.I use the 12x speed.That is the speed that the 360 starts out with.
All you will need to flash that drive and burn your backups are.
1 iprep 101 v006
2 firmware toolbox v4.5
3 img burn v2.3.2
All three are found here.

There is a guide for flashing the dvd drive here.Read the post also.

If you use the 360 to power the drive when flashing give it a little more time than 2 sec.It takes the 360 longer to boot up.

Burn your iso with img burn.Your burner must burn DL dvd
There is a guide for burning with img burn here.

You will need that usb flash drive also.
Make sure that your computer will boot off the usb drive.(most will)
If by chance it won't, then you can use a floppy(Don't unless you HAVE to}

If you have anymore questions just ask.
Let us know how it goes.

Some people forget that everyone started somewhere. You came to the table prepared which makes it much easier on us. Cofree and I both remember well the stage you are going through.

And lets not forget that even seasoned veterans even sometimes leaves out little small details. Not that we do it on purpose, just that we get so used to doing something that it becomes so trivial of a task, that we sometimes just forget the small things. Sometimes it's the small things that make a huge difference. So coming to the table prepared as Jman puts it, is a two way street.
