Robin Hoods Playground

So...just announced at E3 is that there will be a major Microsoft update to the Xbox 360 that allows us to rip games to our hard drive and play them from the hard drive for faster loads and lagless gameplay! That's the reason for the 20GB price drop as there is a 60GB to be introduced! In addition there will be Netflix and "Avatars" on the 360 with the update that closely resemble Mii's on the Wii.

Regardless, do you all think this update will also include some stuff that will prevent us from going on Live? I have a feeling that they will include something in the update that will screw with our firmware mods, what do you all think?

i think we will just have to wait and see.

anyway i hope the hackers can take advantage of this install game to hd option....make it like last gen where u can just boot games from hd without a disc or nothing....but even so guess unless we have the 120gb drive we would all have to buy one to store all the games.

It'd totally be worth the money to get the hard drive if they DID take advantage of that option. Just delete the game after you're done and that's it! No more dual layer dvds to buy!

One of the guys said that you have to have the disc in the tray to prove that you own it. It won't spin the disc though, just run off the HDD

you will need the original in the drive to run the game of the hard drive

If they ever get any deeper into owning some of the security of the 360, they may be able to do something with the playing the games from the drive part. I think we'll just have to wait and see though.

haha the good old days... i didn't play live back then, if it mattered, but i would just ftp to my xbox and send the files over to it from my pc.

^yup i ftp'd to my ps2.

anyway i know about the needing to have the game in the drive to play it off the HD, that's why i said hackers lol.

hopefully they could crack that and make the iso's bootable without the disc.


but either way the hd option will be nice, less wear on the laser/drive is always good.

Yeah I was hoping that there was going to be a way to do this before M$ decided to. Back when a hacker ran Linux from the King Kong game.
