If the area with the Sata info shows MTKFlash and DOS Flash compatible with the selected controller does that gaurantee that it should be able to work without any problems or it that just something iPrep uses to verify a sata present?
Thank you in advance.

It means it's compatible - doesn't mean it will work...

I may very well be wrong but I doubt that controller will do the business on the BenQ!
(shown in your screenshot as the drive you you are trying to flash).

The proof is in the eating .. it never hurts to attempt a "dump" / then "IF" successful ... validate the dump in firmware toolbox before flashing.

As I said.. I don't think it will work but there's no harm in trying ;)

The VIA-6421 card is the best solution - arming yourself with the right tools = kurbing the timeloss & headaches

I appreciate the help, i have tried it a few times with iPrep v7 and i got squat when i had to run the MTKFlash part it automatically just said error. but when using the v6.2 i get up to the point where it should be flashing between 51 and d1 but when i turn it off it doesnt switch, i have kinda of just gave up on trying to use my onboard and have just ordered the Via6421, expexting it by next week. The anticipation is killing me though.

Thats exactly where incompatible cards fail! The via6421 will bring results & save you headaches ;)

just make sure you use the correct port

So i take it i can get all the way up to the point it it should go from d1 to 51 with an incompatible raid controller?

Yes, you sure can. Then at the moment it needs to read, it either hangs, the drive won't lock on the right status code or it errors out.

technicly you havn't got very far.. all you have really done is prepare the tools .. the actual crucial processes after having the tools ready is to take a valid dump / build the hacked firmware & then flash.

So yes, if the sata controller is gonna fail it's going to fail @ the dump/flash process.. not before

if something fails before you even get that far it is 99% of the time due to user error or bad drivers, missing runtime components etc.

Oh yea , to tell you the truth i had a lot of doubt about it actually working when i got home, in fact it didnt at first but then i just switched the port and it did the magic. Now to start gathering "backups" hehehe.
