ok
This will be a working thread on the lite-on.We will leave it for all to see for the time being.
Keep this Thread for updates on the dump/flash of the lite-on.
You can add new information,But do not post question in this thread
Just make a new thread if there is some thing you want to ask.
If we get question in this thread we will just move the whole conversation to a private thread that all can't see.
here is what i know so far .
It does look like you can get the key from a lite-on dvd drive. Also the spoof information is there also.
It is done a little different than other drive.the main thing is it is done with a
rs-232 cable hooked to com 1 on your computer and run through a max 3232 adapter.
Here is a picture and post that was posted by "Team MODFREAKz"
The 2nd picture is the pcb board of a lite-on dvd drive. There is some solding that will need to be done to do this job.
I have to get the max3232 adapter and a lite-on 360 before I can get on this.
If someone here does this post up pictures of everything please.
Keep in mind guys this is not very beginner friendly at the moment.
You may want to just hang tight till we all get a better handle on this.
You can bet the Staff and I will be on this full speed.
A big
thanks to MSK,and nelex good job guys.
If i have got something wrong guys edit my post.

various info coming in...
here's some pics showing the connection taken from the drives power output then to a connectivity kit & from there to RS232 adapter
itsalive-sm.jpg
zoomed-sm.jpg
Just a small case of soldering the the two points on the drives board to allow the data to pass through the power cable & of course connecting it up correctly - as long as you have the right tools, & connect it up correctly then it shouldn't be too difficult
ps. I havn't tested this yet..

Please note // the RS232 board used in the above picture is a custom - you do not need this exact board - there are simpler configurations that do the same work
Please also note // this is not a firmware hack, it's just for the key extraction & spoof info.
A firmware & flash method is currently being worked on.. there is no ETA

ok
i have a max232 on the way and will be picking up a 360 with a lite-on drive in a few minutes.
i hope haha how odd is that.we were doing all we could to stay away from them now i want one.
if any one here at the site pulls this off please up.
please post up.
Just to keep it in perspective for everyone. This is just getting the key and the spoof information.
At this time there is no firmware to flash in the lite-on dvd drive.
We will keep you updated.
im sure they are working on it.
There is no ETA at this TIME.

on a side note cofree are you planning on using a connectivity kit??
If you are then I think you might hit problems with the executer v2! because it tiers down from a 12pinout plug to a 10pinout! In the picture above it looks like he has used a "xeno kit" & linked through the whole setup - I don't own 1 of these but it looks like the plug is the same on both ends...
I should imagine you can go straight from TxD & RxD to the adapter & skip the link with the kit, & just take the ground out from the kit but i'm not 100% sure.
Let me know me when you get it up & running

yea
i have a v2 kit.
i may just use it for the power and run wires to the pcb of the dvd drive for the grd,tx and rx
i think that should work dont you.

I would think so yes - the proof is in the eating
I think you are going to need to come off the voltage supply aswell - the above picture shows the custom adapter taking power from the usb (a standard adapter won't have that)

@CoFree, MsK is right, you'll need to come off the voltage supply as well and the rest should be as you expect. At least from my understanding of electronics is concerned. I won't be able to help in this project though as some unexpected things has been thrown my way that I have to contend with. I'm sure that you guys will be able to do this with no problems.

yeah all i hope is there will be an easier method to getting the key/flashing in the future, cuz with the soldering it won't be something everyone will want to try, seems even harder than the v79 use to be.
oh well time will tell i guess.

no way.
putting in a 79 passkey was damn small
about like doing a wiikey
the solder on the lite-on dont look as bad at all.

Soul Heaven has now updated his drive switcher (spoofing software) to allow for the lite-on drive...
This eliminates the manual hex route
source:

Hello all,
I've updated my tool 360 Drive Switcher for the lite-on.
You will find it here :
http://rapidshare.com/files/140293297/3 ... 0.zip.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Please follow these steps to spoof your remplacement drive :
Run the software then click on browse to select your source firmware. Select the file INQUERY.BIN you've just dumped before from your lite-on:
360driveswitcher1tp0.jpg
If the file KEY.BIN is placed in the same folder than the file INQUERY.BIN, it will be loaded automaticly. Else, the application asks you to select the correct KEY File.
Then, select the destination firmware. Here in this example it's a Sammy Fw MS25. You should obtain that :
By now just click on "Generate the firmware" in order to save your new spoofed firmware.
Flash as usual your remplacement drive with this new firmware, and it's over.
Keep me informed if you have any issue.
See you later

well seems you can swap out the drives now, i'm sure even this is good enough for most people.
all you would need to do now is swap em out and that's it ?
seems like it.
anyway good news.

indeed... since the day of dvdkey v1.1 public release it has boasted a dump of the drive Ident (spoof info) - what the above tool does is takes it from a manual hex edit level to the semi automatic GUI level - which is niiice
