I was wondering if anyone had an extra drive able to flashed with Kreon firmware, or all ready pre-flashed, that they would like to get rid of?

I ebayed the term Kreon but g'damn! $50 for a dvd burner?? :o

I'm looking at this one.

TS-H353B KREON DRIVE flashed to SH-D163B 1.0 KREON

I would rather get one of these drives off one of you nice folks ;)

I don't have a spare, but does it have to be one of the sata versions, or can it be an IDE version?

EDIT:

Here's one to keep your eye on, it's not pre-flashed, but if you can get it for a good price ;) :
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... le=ts-h353" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I have a spare but I keep it for me incase my master fails...

There's plenty about - just don't search for "kreon" otherwise you will be slapped with the markup :o

sadalius has put you onto a winner ;)

Thanks all! I will be watching those ;)

It does not have to be SATA. I would prefer IDE but it doesn't matter

What are the exact models I can enter into ebay's search field to try to score a good price ?

That drive I won is a TS-H353B not A according to the images.

Is it still a winner?

I've read that it works. Although when you flash it with kreon it may say that the download failed. But if you restart your PC, it will recognize the drive as a SH-D163B instead of the TS-H353B and if you try xbox backup creator it should work. Now, when you flash it, you'll have to start sfdnwin.exe in a particular manner. Open a command prompt where you extracted the kreon files. Then type "sfdnwin.exe -nocheck" without the quotes and hit enter. This will start the flashing program without any firmware checking so basically it doesn't care what drive it is your flashing, it just flashes it if its able to. Once you hit enter, you should get a dialog box that says something about No Check and you'll have to hit ok to continue. Click the folder icon on the top left and choose the kreon firmware. Make sure the TS-H353B is selected in the drop down. Then click the download button and it will flash it. It will tell you when its done and you should reboot your computer when it is done.
