In the midle of flashing BenQ...

I used to have an old 360 that I modded the Hitachi drive on... but it eventually got the red rings of death, and I just bought a new one. It has a BenQ drive. All has been going well, until this part. I just put in "dben serialnumber", and then "resent the MTP vender." I followed that 360 Mods tutorial, and turned on, off and back on my 360... but it's not doing anything after "Status: 0x7F"

Any suggestions? Am I doing anything wrong? Thank you!!

if you never saw the D1 flashing then it did not go into debug mode.
What way are you trying to flash the drive.
I would tell you to use Iprep 101 v006
it is here.

if you need more just post one of us will try to help.

Yes, I am using iprep 006. I'm following the "Benq iprep006 tutorial" from http://www.x360mods.com

Thank you so much.

i did it just the way the screen said do it.and it word great for me many so far.
i know in there new guide they say
"IMPORTANT! You must power the 360 back ON before pressing any
key to continue.
If you press any key to continue with the 360 powered OFF (as
instructed to do on screen) it will immediately freeze attempting to
write Bank 0. This is a bug in iPrep 006 and will hopefully be
resolved in a future release."

I never had this problem.
If you are doing just like they say try it just like the screen says.

Okay, I just tried both ways, and both ways when my 360 was off, it said "Status: 0xFF", and as soon as I turned it back on, it said "Status: 0x80".

I tried it the way the guide said, and the way the screen said.

Any suggestions?

In iPrep, under SATA Info, it says:

Intel(R) ICH8R/DO/DH SATA RAID Controller.

Is that what you meant? Above it, it says "MTKFlash and DosFlash compatible."

I don't have a card... just the one on my mobo. It worked for flashing my old Hitachi... will it not work for this?

Hitachi's different. You can use a usb to sata converter and flash the hitachi in windows. The other drives have to read directly from the sata port and the type is very important. The most common reason benq and samsungs won't read is card incompatability. The easiest way to make sure you have a compatible card is to order this one: http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm

As long as you have an extra pci slot you should be able to get it to work.

Jman's right, that card will work. I can get into debug with it.

Not to hijack, but where's it say-

"IMPORTANT! You must power the 360 back ON before pressing any
key to continue.
If you press any key to continue with the 360 powered OFF (as
instructed to do on screen) it will immediately freeze attempting to
write Bank 0. This is a bug in iPrep 006 and will hopefully be

This sounds like exactly the problem I'm getting, should I turn it on before I do this step, below?

"Follow the prompts on the screen, make sure your 360 is OFF and press any key to continue. Press Y to resend the MTK Vendor Intro."

Okay, I got the VIA that JMan recommended, I ordered it, and it came in today. Now I can't get it to say anything but Status: 0x7F... it doesn't go anywhere from that. Please help... I'm stuck.

Did you find the new sata card in iprep when you made your bootable flash?

Yes, I did. It was called VIA VT6421 RAID Controller.
