error reading firmware! ms28/iprep
Hi, when I go to dump the firmware typing dSam "1234567 12345" then the list comes up asking to select the drive, I press the number of xtreme and straight away it comes up with "port: df00, master/slave" and then it doesnt let me do anything else so I can't continue
anyone know whats wrong?

Re: error reading firmware! ms28/iprep
on the sam v25 and v28 drive you need a via 6421a or L chipset.
this one works good.
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
if you have that chioset
the i would say try a different usb flash or even try to dump with a floppy disc.
remember when you get it to dump to stop after the dump and check the firmware.i would check both orig "ofw" and the custom/hacked "cfw" with firmware toolbox for a good key .
as long as you have a good key then its ok to go to the flkashing

Re: error reading firmware! ms28/iprep
Hi thanks for the reply CoFree! I do have the Via VT6421 chipset, just bought one the other day, I'll give it a try with a floppy if I can find one! lol I'll let you know how it goes. excellent site btw =]
Just to give you some more info:
I've prepared my usb drive with iPrep, using the Samsung.iXtreme.1.4 firmware at 12x, selected the "VIA VT6421 RAID Controller", ticked "patch MTKflash", selected target drive and "format/make device bootable" then prepared destination. It runs through fine, I've checked to make sure all the files are on the USB drive.
Restart computer, turn xbox on with power connected to the drive, booted from USB, press Y at confirmation, booted xbox, typed "dSam 1234567 12345" then pressed enter, connected the sata to the front most port on the sata card, pressed any key so the list of drives comes up, turned xbox off, selected "Xtreme pri master" by pressing 1, and as soon as I press 1 it says "Port: df00, master/slave, ae" doesn't let me press enter to try the ten second trick, though I have tried waiting ten seconds and turning xbox on but nothing happens... it just hangs on "Port: df00, master/slave, ae"
I'm using Vista but had no problems with anything apart from the "port: df00..." I've disconnected all of the other drives in the system, and tried other sata ports on the card and still getting that error =[ I've lookd on the usb and its created the folders but no original firmware in there... I haven't any floppys yet though I'll try get some.

Re: error reading firmware! ms28/iprep
if you have not watched it have a look at the video.im using v005 in it but it runs the same.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =110&t=401" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
make sure you are using iprep v006.2
if you look at the video i hook my sata cable up right after the computer is booted on the flash drive before i put in the dsam command.
im not sure that will help.
this could be as simple as trying a different kind of usb flash
