PC-DL-DVD-ROM for 360?

I got my first console the Xbox360 Pro a couple of weeks ago but when I checked my brand new GTA:IV disk today...I was shocked it had very small odd-scraches (not deep), But the console was still able to play it  . Obviously 360 drives aren't that reliable.....

So the thought crossed my mind that what if I can get a SATA PC-DVD DL ROM and put it in the Xbox360...

My theory is :ugeek: :
___________

A PC SATA DVD-DL Rom has a Single Motherboard/Card like thing inside it which can be taken off.
The Xbox360 SATA DVD-DL Rom also has a Single Motherboard/Card like thing inside it which can be taken off.

So if I take that Motherboard/Card off a 360 Drive and put it in that SATA PC DVD ROM and put that SATA PC DVD rom in 360 will it work.

I have a LITE-ON Drive and want to replace it with a Lite-On PC drive.
I just want to know that will it work or has anybody tried it.

Because if it works then It would help a million 360 Customers... :|

Yep, won't work. You can get a different 360 drive and put it in, but not just any ol drive you want. Check out the tutorials on spoofing drives. You won't have to spoof if you use the same brand and model number that the 360 came with, but you will still need the keys to inject into the fw.

man
keep in mind i look at every post on the site. ;)

the guys are right ,you can not use just any pc dvd drive in your 360.
it must be a 360 dvd drive.
there is a thread about putting in a pad that will stop the scratching.

I read an article on xboxhacker.net where they found a PC DVD drive what was very similar if not the same hardware wise . The drive used was a Philips DROM6316 and they used a modified benq firmware. Of course they injected the proper drive key to be able to load games and such. Here is a video of it.

Its worth noting that no other brand of pc dvd drive has been found that would work for this.

Knowing this is one of those things that is just that. They never released the firmware to the public so its kind of useless.
