I am having so much trouble finding a good tutorial for flashing my benq drive. Little info for starter I bought am Xblaster N and hooked it up. Then I started looking for tutorials on flashing the drive. I have a MSI K9A2 platinum board with a ohenin 9550 Proc. with 4gb memory. I have iprep 101 v6 and Ixtreme firmware 1.4 v2, also have hptools for formatting. What I have read to this point is the first time flash drive through PC and after that use the xblaster n to do it. I have downloaded several tutorials but none seem to work. I see everyone talking about some via controller card for sata but I don't have that and want to connect to my on board sata controller. Don't know if thatis possible but hoping I can. Can someone please point me in the right direction on how to flash my drive. I really would appreciate any help I can get becuase I have spent weeks trying figure this out and my head is really hurting. Thanks in advance Jimmydee.

first
take the blaster off.flash it strait the first time,and its one less thing that could cause problems.

with the benq and samsung you should get this.
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and you can flash a benq with other chipsets,but the via6421a or L is the best.

then download and read this.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =110&t=662" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
then you can watch this.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =110&t=277" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

you will need iprep v006.2 from here.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... f=112&t=48" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
you will need a usb flash and no how to get your computer to boot from the flash.

after you have read over and have a good idea on things just post back if you have any specific questions.

I certainly don't want to confuse matters here & it's true that Cofree has already given you the best advice for flashing the drive by using the VIA controller...

but there is another option also - u can now use the benq_unlock tool & dosflash32

BenQ_Unlock // viewtopic.php?f=63&t=2458" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
DosFlash Tut // viewtopic.php?f=134&t=1769" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As I said before... I don't use this method, although I have used dosflash before I have yet to try the unlock tool.. simply because I don't need to. I do it the same way as Cofree ;)

I appreciate the info that has been given and at this point I have ordered the controller that cofree recommends. I really need simplicity and I hope once I get the controller things easier. I really need easy not difficult.

while you are waiting on the sata card.
you need to work on getting your computer booting on a usb flash.
or you can try your floppy dive as long as it is working good.i would only do that if you cant get it to boot off a flash.
you can build a flash drive to boot on even if you dont have
patch mtk or the right controller.
pick your target drive.dont mess this up.make sure you know what drive is the flash.you can mess a lot of stuff up if you opick the wrong drive to make bootable.
put a check in make bootable then prepare destination.

after you have made the bootable flash try to boot your computer on it.
just watch the video and do it like that.

I should have said earlier that I already made the bootable flash and tried it. It does boot up but I had trouble using it. I tried to run the XBOX open and never could get it to see properly. The xbox just kept flashing and nothing happened I got the ox7 or whatever it is before you turn it on and nothing else happened. I then put it together again and tried with your other tutorial for blaster the only thing that happened was I got the Di flashing but when I turned the XBOX off and on again all I got was the D1 flashing and that is why I asked for help on this site. Hope the controller takes care of the problem. If that is not the case please let me know otherwise. Let me also say that I am a computer repair person for a very long, long time more years then I care to say so I do understand technical things. This is my first xbox I already modded my childrens PS2 which works fine now for at least a year. I got the xbox for myself and found out later that I had to mod that as well. So here I sit waiting on the controller hoping it will fix my problem. I have no problem buying hardware but software is another story all together. Thanks again for all your help and I'll let you know hoiw it turns out.

ok man cool
you just never know where a person is in the know how. ;)
the pci sata card should take care of your problem.the only other thing that can do what you said is a usb flash that wont work.
most flash drives will work just dont use one bigger than 2gb.

Well I got my Raid controller today. Then I created my USB but I tried to use the 1.4 firmware and I got error message from iprep about not a go firmware or something like that. So I had a 1.1 version and that loaded onto the USB with no problems. The flashing went fine to the XBOX but i'm wondering if the 1.1 version will be a problem or not. At this point I'm downloading a game from the internet and will burn it tomorrow because the games are so large it will take awhile. So back to the firmware will the 1.1 cause any problems?

do not use that.you need to flash in the v1.4 firmware.
open iprep>tool>check for updates
it should find a update then v1.4 will load fine.
as long as you are using iprep v006.2.make sure you are running v006.2
jimmydee wrote:At this point I'm downloading a game from the internet
it is a BIG no,no to even talk about that . ;)

yep.you can dump/flash over the top of the old flash
do the update on iprep.
then just start over from the beginning.do it just like its never been flashed.dump it firmware tool will run and build your
hacked firmware then flash it in.

make sure you have made many backups of your orig firmware .put it in more than one spot for safe keeping.

I did iprep and went to tools and did update which it did. Then I loaded the 1.4 version and created the USB drive. At this point I shut down my system and rebooted to the flash drive. I did a fben and it did the erase and the wrote the banks. I hope that is what I should have done please tell me I did the right thing or not.

I didn't realize there was a second page already and I did it differently then you stated did I mess up even though it erased and did the write?

i would think you did mess up.
you have to dump first.that will get your key and put it in the new hacked firmware.
if you just did a fben then you flash in a firmware that does not have your console key in it and will not play a game now.it should give you aerror if you try.

you will have to do this restore.
http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/for ... =110&t=196" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
that will put your console back to orig
then you can start over from there.

There is one thing I did do that I didn't mention was I tried to do the flash the first time with nothing in the backup file and it errored out so I went bakc into windows and and went to where I put the backup of my original dump and moved them to the backup folder on the USB and then went back and boot up system and tried to flash again which it erased and then wrote the banks is that still wrong?
