New Wii Update

Post by sadalius »

There is a new Wii update available from Nintendo. It is recommended not to take this one. It will delete any and all modded files found on the system. All IOS systems are now patched as well.

EDIT: New Update:

Seems this update affects trucha signed disks and wad installations. If you have a homebrew channel already installed, it will continue to work. If you don't, then you won't be able to install one after the update. You also won't be able to install custom IOS's or use the Wii Backuploader after the update.

More as it becomes available.

As you know, if you don't take the latest update, you don't have access to the wii shop channel. Basically it just tells you that there is an update available, blah, blah, blah. and you get stuck in the should I or shouldn't update loop. Until now that is.

There is an application that you can use through the homebrew channel that installs the latest IOS (51) and the latest wii shop channel. Here is the LINK to the application. Basically, just rename the dol file to boot.dol, then put the folder onto an SD card under an apps folder. Then run the homwbrew channel with the card in the wii and it should show up on the menu. Run it and answer all questions as yes. You also have to have an active internet connection setup on the wii in order to do this. It does take a little while to do also. But once your done, you'll be able to access the wii shop channel and purchase your need for a virtual game console or what ever else you might need!!
