Tried that. When I have the 59 hooked up to my sata card it has a ! in DM but when I dont have it hooked up it functions properly. I have a second sata dvd drive hooked up to the VIA and it is found and worksd when the 59 is not hooked up. I have the drive in modeB as well.m

I've tried restarting a few times and still no drives that are hooked up to the VIA card show up. I disconnected the 59 and now my hsstcorp shows up fine in my computer and VIA card has no ! mark in DM. Why is the 59 disabling my VIA card?
I hooked it up this morning with the xecuter v2 kit and the kit got shorted out -- not sure why. maybe it touched some metal by accident or something because the cable was pretty tight. but using the xeno kit, the drive does have power and seems to work fine but just not showing up in windows and pretty much disabling my VIA card so anything hooked up to it does not sdhow up.

I finally hooked up the 0059DJ straight to my motherboards SATA and did not use my VIA PCI card. Windows detected the drive the first time. I then ran iXtreme1.4_Hitachi_C4EVA_rev1\FLASHIX.BAT and chose to flash the firmware, 12x. Reassembled the xbox and it played a regular DVD and retail game fine. It has some definite issues with backups. Has a difficult time reading games (all verbatim discs @ 2.4x) and has only loaded EA games, oddly enough (Bad Company + Dead Space). Have tried about 10 backups and I would say 5-10% even boot.
Any ideas?
*I forgot to mention that all the backups work 100% in my BenQ.

yes they are.
the older hit are failing at a alarming rate.
Im not talking about the v78 or v79.
but
all the older launch hit dvd drive are starting to show signs of trouble.
If yours is not, then count your self lucky.

Decided to do the POT tweak. Coming from the NGC community the experience wasn't anything new to me. The initial read of the 0059DJ drive was 4.14K. After many attempts of finding a screwdriver small enough, got it down to 3.75K. Tested it out and did not read many of the games still but had I believe a slight improvement. Tweaked it again down to 3.45K and is now reading everything put into it. Got lucky I think
Eventually may put in a Sammy or a BenQ but this will work for now.
