Hi everyone,
Im new to the modding world of Xbox360 and I have done a lot of research, but I'm still not sure how to perform the mod.

I understand I have to mod my cd drive which by the way is a Samsung. However, I'm not sure which firmware to use and if it will work with my xbox kernel (7357). Also, what program should I use since I ran Linux Mandriva in my PC?

There is a lot of info in the web, but I dont know what is good and bad.

Can anyone help?

well the kernel is not the issue
what dvd drive is in your console is what is important.

thats good the samsung is not that bad to flash.

what you need to think about here is the 360 comes with a 12x speed firmware in the dvd drive originally.
you can flash the 8x or 5x speed it will make the console a little quiter but will add to your game load times.
i think most of us here run the 12x speed if not then the 8x is the only one one would suggest you use.

that is a hard one there man.
there is not much for unix of any kind.

hell
for that mater vista gives people a hard time.
most of the support for this kind of stuff is for xp.

maybe sadalius or msk will know more on the unix thing.

here is a video on flashing the samsung dvd drive.
its in xp of course.
